Consider any part of your life that is not submitted to God, or anything that the Holy Spirit has been speaking to you about that you have not yet obeyed. Another way of self-examination to look at this area is using the ‘sin lists’ of the New Testament for clues. These passages include Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 4:25-31; Ephesians 5:3-6; Colossians 3:5-9.
One can also read through the Sermon on the Mount to see whether God might put his finger on anything. Much demonic bondage takes place in relation to relational trouble, and the Sermon deals extensively with our relationship with God and others.
Prayer: “I confess my involvement in the sin of X, and I ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ. I forsake and renounce all of my involvement in this sin, and I determine to never go back to it again.” Adapt and repeat as needed.
Most areas needing repentance have associated spirits that can be easily addressed. For example: “Spirit of hate, get out. Spirits of lust and fantasizing, get out!” Or this, “Spirit of lying, I bind to you all other spirits that work with you, and I command you all to leave me now.”
Again, take time and see if the Holy Spirit shows you anything else that should be prayed about.
