What are the “The Three C’s”? They are a mental shortcut that can help us remember the basics of freedom. We first saw them mentioned in Gene Moody’s writings.
David Alsobrook used to say that if you want to be truly free there is no other way than this:
1] Cleanse Yourself Of Sin. Confess and forsake any and all sin, and deal with any area where there is resistance to the Holy Spirit.
2] Crucify The Flesh – Deal with any area where the works of the flesh (KJV, ESV) are evident -. The works of the flesh are outlined in Galatians 5:19-21, translated here in the NLT –
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
If you see any area where your habits, attitudes, flesh, sinful nature or willfulness are opposed to the will of the Lord, put it to death.
3] Cast Out Demons – When we teach and minister deliverance, we usually start by dealing with personal sins, unforgiveness, idolatry and so forth. We call these the entry points for the demonic. Once we deal with these, then the demons are fairly easily dealt with.
So The 3 C’s are a mnemonic device to help people to remember how to get and stay free. See our older posts on entry points and self-deliverance for more info on this issue.
